This was going to be a straight-up edition of First Gloves featuring Tony Kubek. He’d be a worthy subject for that, as he not only had a signature glove but knew how to use it.
Kubek’s defense, in fact, was easily the best part of his game, and was really the only thing he did on the field that was consistently above average. Here’s how he did offensively compared to the league averages during his career:
