On Recency Bias and Baseball
Did you know that baseball history extends all the way back to 1991?
Shocking, isn’t it? Who knew it went back that far? I figured it didn’t go past 2010 or so, but apparently it’s much older than I thought. I mean, it’s 16 years older than the iPhone. Can you believe that? Those guys were probably still using Blackberries. Crazy.
This ancient revelation of the game’s past comes to us from Ben Verlander. That’s Justin’s little brother, a former ballplayer who batted .252 once in the Florida State League way back in 2016, so he’s an old soul. He was born in the 1900s if you can believe that. He’s obviously really wired in to the storied yesteryear of the National Pastime, otherwise he wouldn’t be able to produce goldmines of information like this one:
