Polls are always fun.
Well, not always. Not when they’re skewed, or done badly, or misused, or whatever. But when they’re just a basic A, B, or C choice between relatively benign options, they generally give us all sorts of free entertainment or ego stroking.
“Oh, the majority agree with me? I knew it!”
“What?! How can people think THAT?!”
“Huh, really? I wouldn’t have imagined.”
“Whoa, that’s a lot closer than I figured.”
Then of course there’s always the “Well, I don’t give a hoot about this subject in any way, but I’m going to check out the results anyway. Maybe I’ll learn something.”
All of these can be fun, and when the subject is sports, we might even get a chance to poke at a rival, or remember a former favorite player briefly. So, when this poll came across my Twitter feed, I had an instant reaction as a Red Sox fan.
