Sometimes we silly humans worry about things we shouldn’t. Things we can’t control. Things that might not even happen. It’s human nature to ponder things like that.
“What if I flunk this test?”
“What if he won’t go out with me?”
“Is there a chance of rain? How big a chance? Do I need to bring an umbrella? Why aren’t meteorologists ever right when it matters?!?!?”
It’s draining to have these worries taking up so much mental energy. There’s a seemingly constant flow in our minds, sometimes only subconsciously but there nonetheless, that’s considering what might happen next. Too often, we dwell on the more negative responses to those worrisome questions.
Like what if someone seriously thinks Josh Donaldson belongs in the Hall of Fame once he becomes eligible in a few years?
What if a lot of voters think that way?
What if they point out that he and Chuck Klein had nearly identical career WAR totals and feel duty-bound to vote Donaldson into Cooperstown to join Klein in the Plaque Gallery?
What if they actually succeed?!?!?
Oh, the horror, right?
